Elopements, Micro-Weddings & Intimate Celebrations

Small Guest List. Beautiful Wedding. Much Less Stress.

You do not need 50 guests—or a $30,000 wedding budget—to exchange meaningful vows somewhere beautiful. A complimentary resort package may give you the ceremony foundation, while you decide which personal touches are worth adding.

Choose Your Kind of Intimate

Small weddings are not one-size-fits-all.

Your version may be just the two of you, your children and parents, or a handful of people who know your story best.

The Couple

Destination Elopement

Travel together for the ceremony, photographs, cake, romantic dinner, and honeymoon—with no traditional guest list to manage.

2–6 Guests

Closest-Family Wedding

Invite children, parents, witnesses, or siblings for a deeply personal ceremony and a relaxed celebration afterward.

Up to About 10 Guests

Micro-Wedding

Gather your inner circle for the aisle, vows, flowers, toast, photographs, and an intimate dinner everyone can share.

What “Free” Actually Means

The wedding package may be complimentary. The trip is not.

A resort may waive the price of its entry-level wedding package when current room, category, or stay requirements are met.

Think of it as the wedding foundation.

The resort gives you a beautiful place to begin. You choose whether—and where—to add more.

A complimentary package is usually designed for a small ceremony, not a full private reception. That can be perfect for an elopement or micro-wedding because you are not paying for more event than you need.

We compare the package requirement with the room cost and total trip value. “Free” is only valuable when the resort is also the right fit.

Symbolic Ceremony

An officiant-led ceremony at an available resort venue, subject to the package.

Planning Support

The resort wedding team helps coordinate the on-property package details.

Couple's Flowers

A bouquet, boutonniere, or comparable floral elements may be included.

Cake & Toast

A wedding cake and sparkling-wine toast for the included guest count.

Romantic Touches

Room turndown, welcome amenities, or breakfast may be part of select packages.

Selected Extras

Spa discounts, late checkout, or anniversary benefits may apply.

Qualifying room categoryor higher for at least 7 nights
OR
5 roomsin any category for at least 3 nights

Current published terms extend through December 20, 2027 and apply only at participating brands and resorts, subject to availability, double occupancy, minimum booking windows, restrictions, and change. The individual resort's required room category must be verified.

The Honest Cost Picture

Complimentary does not mean $0.

The package may remove one major wedding expense, but every traveler and couple still needs a realistic trip and upgrade budget.

Usually separate from the free package

  • Flights and resort accommodations
  • Airport transfers and travel protection
  • Passports, baggage, and personal expenses
  • Additional guests beyond the included count
  • Private cocktails, dinner, or reception time
  • Photography, beauty, entertainment, and upgraded décor

Costs you can control more easily

  • How many people receive an invitation
  • Whether the dinner is private or at an included restaurant
  • How much floral and décor customization you add
  • Whether you hire extended photography coverage
  • Which room category and view you choose
  • Whether you add an excursion or post-wedding experience
Our approach: We will not encourage upgrades simply because they are available. We identify what the complimentary package already covers, then help you decide which additions will materially improve your day.

Small Does Not Mean Incomplete

Everyone there matters—and everyone can be part of the moment.

A small wedding lets you slow down. You can speak to every guest, take photographs without rushing, share a meal at one table, and spend actual vacation time together.

Children can be part of the vows
Parents can stand beside you
One table can hold the whole celebration
Photos can include everyone who came
Fewer schedules and room needs to manage
More budget for the details you value
Make It Feel Like Yours

Start simple. Add selectively.

A basic ceremony can become a deeply personal celebration without turning into a large traditional wedding.

Photography

Add enough coverage for getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, and the people who traveled with you.

Personal Flowers

Upgrade the bouquet, ceremony florals, or dinner table instead of decorating every possible surface.

Private Dinner

Gather everyone at one table for dinner, speeches, cake, and a relaxed evening after the vows.

Music

Add a solo musician, meaningful processional songs, or a small amount of entertainment where it matters.

Beauty & Spa

Include wedding-day hair, makeup, a couples massage, or quiet spa time before the ceremony.

Shared Experience

Plan a catamaran, private transfer, group dinner, or excursion as the memory everyone shares.

One beautiful table may be all the reception you need.

With a small group, a private dinner can feel more personal than a ballroom or four-hour dance party.

  • Seat the entire wedding at one table
  • Choose a special menu or private location
  • Share meaningful speeches without a microphone
  • Cut the cake and raise a toast together
  • Add candles, flowers, music, or a photographer
  • Return to the resort afterward—or keep celebrating
DestinationBridal's Standard Recommendation

Keep the ceremony meaningful. Keep the international paperwork out of it.

We focus on symbolic destination ceremonies. Complete the legal marriage process at home, then travel for the attire, vows, rings, flowers, photographs, cake, and celebration.

How We Find the Right Fit

The free package should not choose the resort for you.

1

Define the Celebration

Just the two of you, close family, or approximately ten guests—and what you want the day to include.

2

Compare Total Value

We compare room prices, flights, guest needs, package requirements, beach, resort style, and current availability.

3

Reserve the Trip

We establish the room and travel plan while the resort confirms the wedding date and package.

4

Add What Matters

Choose photography, dinner, flowers, beauty, music, or an experience based on your priorities—not pressure.

Short-Notice Weddings

You may not need 12–18 months.

A small guest list can create more flexibility, but “short notice” still depends on resort availability, required booking windows, flights, passports, room inventory, and how much customization you want.

Simple is what makes faster planning possible.

When the guest list is small, we can concentrate on finding one available resort, one symbolic ceremony, a manageable room plan, and a few meaningful upgrades.

The less you require a particular Saturday, exact venue, rare room category, large private reception, or extensive custom décor, the more options we may have.

Some programs currently require at least 30 days; other resorts or packages may require considerably more. We verify before recommending a date.

Have valid passportsNew or renewed passports can become the longest part of a short timeline.
Stay flexible on datesWeekdays and alternate ceremony times may open more possibilities.
Limit the guest listFewer rooms and schedules reduce coordination and inventory pressure.
Choose symbolicKeep foreign civil-marriage logistics outside the destination plan.
Prioritize three must-havesFocus the search on what will genuinely change the experience.
Decide efficientlyGood availability can disappear while couples keep comparing indefinitely.
Where Small Weddings Work Well

Start with the guests, flights, budget, and resort experience.

We will build a curated preferred-resort list by destination. These are broad starting points; the actual resort must still fit your group and current package terms.

Costa Mujeres

A strong choice when families and children are attending and the group wants a self-contained all-inclusive vacation.

Cancun & Riviera Maya

Wide resort variety, established wedding programs, and options for adults-only or family-friendly celebrations.

Los Cabos

Dramatic scenery and sophisticated resort choices for couples prioritizing atmosphere and Pacific-coast views.

Jamaica

A warm, celebratory destination with resort choices in Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, and Falmouth.

Dominican Republic

Extensive all-inclusive inventory and multiple wedding brands in Punta Cana and Cap Cana.

Aruba

A desirable island option for couples who value reliably sunny scenery and a different Caribbean feel.

Small Wedding Questions

Honest answers before you start packing.

What is the difference between an elopement and a micro-wedding?

An elopement is centered on the couple and may include no guests or only a few witnesses. A micro-wedding usually includes a small invited group—often approximately ten or fewer people in the programs featured here. Either can include a full symbolic ceremony, attire, flowers, photography, cake, and dinner.

Can the wedding package really be free?

Yes, at participating resorts when the current eligibility requirements are met. “Free” generally means the entry-level package carries no additional package price. Rooms, flights, transfers, travel protection, added guests, private events, photography, beauty, décor upgrades, and other services are separate unless specifically included.

Do we have to book five rooms?

Not always. For the current Hyatt Inclusive Collection Wedding in Paradise offer, couples may qualify through a required upgraded room category for at least seven nights instead of the five-room option. RIU and other resort programs use their own terms. We compare the available paths for the property and date.

What can a complimentary package include?

A current example includes the symbolic ceremony, resort wedding coordination, attire preparation, couple's flowers, cake and sparkling-wine toast for up to ten guests, romantic room touches, spa discounts, and selected anniversary benefits. Exact inclusions vary by resort and program.

Does the free package include a private dinner or reception?

Usually not. Entry-level complimentary packages commonly focus on the ceremony, flowers, cake, and toast. A private dinner, cocktail hour, reception, extended photography, music, or upgraded décor may be added at cost or obtained through a higher paid package.

Can our children participate in the ceremony?

Yes, at a family-friendly resort and subject to the ceremony plan. Children can walk the aisle, carry rings, join a unity ritual, receive family vows, or simply stand beside you. We will consider their ages, room needs, and resort amenities during the match.

Can we plan this within a few months?

Possibly. A smaller guest list can help, but we still need a resort wedding date, rooms, flights, passports, transfers, deposits, and any required minimum booking period. Flexibility on weekday, time, venue, destination, and upgrades improves the chances.

Why do you recommend a symbolic ceremony?

A symbolic ceremony lets you complete the legal marriage process at home and avoid asking DestinationBridal to coordinate foreign licenses, residency periods, blood tests, translations, apostilles, or government appointments. Your destination ceremony can still include every meaningful wedding moment.

Will our small wedding feel too simple?

It does not have to. The guest list may be small while the experience remains elegant and complete. Thoughtful photography, personal vows, flowers, a beautiful outfit, a special dinner, music, spa time, or one shared excursion can make the celebration feel distinctly yours.

Your wedding can be small without feeling ordinary.
